Launching my new venture online, a Virtual Access to my colourful creating space. I love to share my work, my inspirations, my works in progress (WIPs). When I was living on the road, setting up roadside stalls and at country markets, I was always crocheting something, and customers got to see WIPs . They often offered ideas, and we would have lots of chats all day.
Now that I have been virtually house-bound for many years, I really miss that connection with people. (I get out once a week for essential shopping and weekly acupuncture.) But mostly I am here in the hills, living in a very beautiful caldera.

I am about to close my Etsy online shop, which I opened back in 2007, as whilst, it has served as a online shop presence, I have prolly paid more in listing fees than I have had in sales. So after the Etsy Strike last month, I have decided it is time to leave Etsy.
Now, along with this site, my Flickr Pages, and other social media, I feel I can launch my new Patreon Page.
I have sometimes thought of setting up a personal funding page on one of the many such sites, I have made pages for others, but couldn't bring myself to ask for crowd funded money for myself. I have no personal vehicle to freely take off in. I live on an extremely small budget, and luckily don't have too many expenses. (Or I didn't until recently. I am now spending my meagre savings (for a van), on some vital Healthcare to look into and remediate my MTHFR issues.
So, I have decided to open up a Virtual Studio on Patreon, where I can offer my patrons something for their dollars.
What is Patreon?
Patreon is "a subscription-style payment model, fans pay their favourite creators a monthly amount of their choice in exchange for exclusive access, extra content, or a closer look into their creative journey."
This will keep me connected and motivate me to learn new things like making and editing 'How To' videos, pattern making, tutorials etc. Over the years I have always wanted to create patterns for some of my beanies, a tricky thing for a Freeform artist, let me tell you. But these days, it can be made easier, with the use of video. In recent years, I have played with some cheap mini cameras, aiming to film my hands crocheting, needle-felting and creating One Of A Kind (OOAK) exhibition pieces. Usually the cheaply purchased camera has quite poor quality resolution or is too difficult to ensure my hands are actually on screen. I would love to try with a proper Go Pro or an iPhone. I would love to be able to speed up the recording to fast-track thru slow crafting process at will.. I have put out a request on Facebook for any old or now unused Go Pro, or iPhones, but further down the track, when I have some funds, I will purchase one that will do what I need.
Currently my content will be Pictorials and Stories of the work progressing, Insider views of my private Studio Living Space and General Inspiration. (maybe a couple of short video clips from the past, will make the cut. The 4th Tier (entry price level), will be for those who wish to access online classes, Live-streamed and recorded -accessible anytime.
Have a look at what the 4 tiers can offer you

About MeggaYarnz Virtual Studio
Join me on a visual journey thru photos of my freeform textile art. Be inspired, learn how I find ideas, transforming them into reality. Attend Virtual Online Classes, or just Soak In some Inspiration.
I am an artist who mainly works in textile art, creating wearable art, crocheting yarn, needle-felting fibre, painting on clothing as well as landscapes on canvas.
Having endured Myalgic Encephalomyeliitis (ME/CFS) for the past 15 years, I am no longer getting my creations out and about, like in my previous ArtNomadix life, travelling the land in a van, with pop-up stalls and a regular market stall at St Andrews Market.
I sit alone, creating slowly when my energy allows me to feel creative. You need energy to be creative! Over the past three or so years, I have been slowly recovering to the point of once again being able to attempt to connect to people thru the online world, to share my art with you and others, to inspire people with the wonderful world of FreeForm creations. It brings me so much joy, watching something appear from wool and yarns, to sculpt figures, animals, trees and birds, to create from a glimmer of an idea.
Please join me as I grow this page, walk with me as I learn to make and edit videos, of how I create my wearable art, video tutorials, livestream open days. And whatever else I'll teach myself how to do.
I have had an Etsy shop since 2007, when I taught myself to use a computer, just before I really got sick (unknowingly, with ME). I have kept the online shop, despite only ever having 29 sales. I joined the recent Etsy Strike and am considering closing it completely.
So, I am now embarking in this new direction, a Patreon page. A group you can join, by supporting my virtual workshop studio.
I can and do, offer a lot of inspiration to people, so I feel this could be the way to contribute my skills, inspire more people, and gain connection to the outside world from my home, either this fixed studio/abode, or in the future, a new mobile home, when I can once again live nomadically.
That is one of the goals I am working towards, to buy a travelling vehicle. A Travelling art studio/gallery, I have not owned a van (or even a car), for the past 10 years! From a nomad I turned into a hermit, almost.
