Well it's just over a week since my hip replacement surgery and have just been into town for a Physio appointment. Yesterday I went in for my GP to check out my progress, and 'tho I was only out for just over an hour all up, including the drive in and out, felt like it was a massive outing ! Got home exhausted. Feeling a bit more alive today, 'tho the 3 hour round trip has taxed me yet again. Earlier I felt able to fix some minor website glitches and adjust my first few shop listings, getting the hang of how this platform works. Getting ready for our Online Market this Sunday. The past couple of days, I've been falling asleep every half hour or so. I am beginning...... to feel like a new 'me'.

Soon I will get to work and do a 'food expose' of the 'New and Improved(?) (Not) Catering for our local hospitals, (at least the two I managed to visit for my Rehipification.) Yes I managed to be admitted to both Murwillumbah and Tweed Hospitals, with two lots of identical admittance questions! I had a 'road trip' up to Tweed in an Ambulance Transport, as the doctors and anaesthetic team were a bit concerned at my 'dropped' foot. They took me up there for an MRI, which had to be changed to a CT Scan, as an MRI might have wobbled/jiggled/moved my nerves, in the process to assess if there was any bleeding/swelling at the sight of my Spinal Anaesthesia.
Turns out all OK, I avoided having some emergency surgery on my spine !! It was just some bruising/jiggling to nerves in one muscle group in my leg, that occurred during the rather hard surgery, the surgeons experienced. Will find out more about what that entailed when I see Dr Agolley again next week. They were all very an the ball with their precautions, and I was allowed home on Friday arvo, didn't have to be monitored over the weekend in the larger hospital. Phew !
Thank goodness I bought a Wheely Walker at the Opp Shop for $5 and a Shower Stool for $10 .... The wheely walker, coupled with a 'Grabbit Stick' work beautifully with my Grandmothers old wooden Walking stick, enabling me to maneuver myself and my bits and pieces around with ease. And wearing some flouro green croc-like sandals I can spin and twist on my painted concrete floor - almost dancing ! I wear my 'flash' light blue Shimanos out to town (super-duper non-slip fishing sandals) ! Amanda the Physio was impressed, both with my sandals and my progress. Getting into the car proves to be the hardest task yet, as each time it is from a different launch pad.
Very glad the PT and OT gave me a Pre-Op workshop about getting my dwelling ready for post-op, and I had enough time over the past 4 weeks to de-clutter heaps of my artistic clutter, to the best Opp Shop we have locally. On Tuesdays and Fridays it is run by sisters Cathy and Sue, two Murwillumbah Born and Breds who still believe an Opportunity Shop should provide wonderful 'Opportunities' for people who cannot afford the prices of most other Opp Shops, that I now call 'Brand Name Opp Shops', where prices get 'fixed out the back', and 'no bargaining allowed' ! LOL

Rearranged my bedroom, to access the bed from my right hand side and now I'm actually using the side shelves properly.

It may still look very cluttered, but hey ! it is an artist's studio ( I can really relate to Margaret Olley). The Plastic Containers are a more compact, Less Visual, way to store my yarns and wool tops for felting than my once upon a time 'spread' of colour sorted, rolled yarn baskets, which used to take up floor space, and attract moths.

In my first few days home, it was more comfortable to get some sleep here in my work station, not that I had much say, I kept dropping off whilst attempting to read.

First array of pillows in my bed to assist me 'stay on my back' while sleeping and to lift blankets off my dropped foot. I have now brought the orange star cushion in and a small stuffed wombat that work even better. There are so many little things you have to learn to do in new ways...... it really is like a 'born again' experience.
