Yarning with the Spirit of my Dad

As the 26th July was the birthday of my father Ian, and it is the day 'spirit' told me to get a Round-Tuit and make myself a mailing list, a website, and a new blog, as my original blog won't let me in any more, for some unknown reason, I dedicate this first (new) blogpost to you , Spirit Ian.

How Ian would have loved this age of connectivity. He taught himself computer skills when they first came out, while he was still working as a scientist, a Virologist, Bacteriologist and Microbiologist. What a mouthful that was for me in primary school, I wish I knew I could have just said Scientist lol.

But a few years after Ian was forced to retire, by newer, younger heads of other departments at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, he suffered a fairly major Stroke. After 3 months at Rehab in Lismore, he became a resident at a Nursing Home in Murwillumbah, as one of the areas of his brain that was irreparably damaged, was the ability to learn to do things in a new way. We got him a laptop, but he was unable to comfortably look at the screen, or remember how he'd previously used computers. He would have loved Digital Photography like he liked old school photography. .... so it was up to me to take up the role of family photographer. Lucky I became addicted to digital photography...lol.

So ....Voila` ! I have a new Blog ! In this Year of Reaching For The Stars (like the Alice Springs Beaniefest theme, plus something else with that title, that I saw somewhere online today), I am Reaching out to the Stars and Beyond, reaching out to You. I'm reaching out to Connect with Beanie Loving, Textile Loving people, who wish to find their new stunning headwear. ArtNomadix MeggaYarnz is launching out into cyber space with my own website and online shop. I still have my Etsy Shop, but it's days maybe numbered.

Thanks to Benny Zable for this portrait of Ian mid 80's
